West Space
A filmed reconstruction of a family separation, with a cast who is never actually seen. All that remains are personal spaces, impressions, possessions and hints of interaction. Significant moments are often tied to particular locations – visions of these places can trigger, or even create emotional memories of the events themselves.
Shot on 16mm film, the detailed portraits are projected simultaneously on three walls. Natural sounds and movements reveal signs of life. Even though the occupants have left, they could return at any time to continue the story.
